There are quite a few things I’ve started working on but haven’t finished. Some of these writings were written down so I wouldn’t forget them. They’ve been written at various points over the last 25 years. The story I’ve been working on for the longest period of time is one I started writing at about twelve or thirteen, so I’ve been working on it for a long time. It’s a fantasy series set in fantasy world filled with magic and adventure. It started with a single trilogy, and now there are another two trilogies that I have notes for, plus another two series that I also have notes for, but don’t have a set number of books yet. One of those series takes place well before the first trilogy occurs. And that’s not taking into account the world building I’m working on and need to write down. Despite the work done on the later trilogies and series, the first trilogy is still incomplete. In fact, the first book isn’t even finished, though I do have some things written for the second book. As for why the work isn’t advancing, the main reason is I tend to get caught up editing/rewriting while I’m still writing, causing me to get stuck on sentences or scenes for a while because my inner editor absolutely must fix it right now. It’s like little roadblocks and obstacles on the way to the finish line. As for what the group can do to help me see this through till the end is just encourage/remind me to keep working on it, to remind me not to get too far ahead of myself , to remind me that the first draft is for getting the story down on paper, and remind me that editing and rewriting can wait for the later drafts.
