Every day, like clockwork, I take a photo of my lunch.  Sometimes it’s a beautiful plate of food with perfect lighting. Sometimes it’s just rice, something fried, and a drink placed artistically beside it. Either way, the photo gets taken. Click. Documented. Preserved.But here’s the strange part. None of those photos ever make it to social media. Do we need to post it? No Facebook post. No Instagram story. No “Lunch time!” caption with 17 hashtags. So why do I keep taking them? At first, I told myself it was for memories. You know, like a digital food diary. But realistically, when was the last time anyone scrolled through their phone thinking, “Ah yes, let me revisit my chicken adobo from last February.” Then I thought maybe it was for future posting. Maybe someday I’ll upload them all at once like a dramatic documentary: “365 Days of Lunch.” But deep down, we all know that day will never come. The truth is, taking a photo of lunch has become a strange little ritual. It’s like my brain believes the meal is more official if it’s photographed first. As if the food somehow doesn’t count until the camera approves it. Also, there’s the possibility that I’m subconsciously preparing for a future where someone asks, “Did you even eat today?” And I can confidently reply, “Of course I did. I have photographic evidence.” But still… the photos remain in my gallery, like over 50 of them. Quietly existing and waiting for a moment that will never arrive. Maybe one day archaeologists will discover my phone and say, “Fascinating. Military strikes, retaliatory attacks, and rising tensions between Iran, the United States, Israel, and regional allies have created instability across the Middle East and beyond. One of the biggest global concerns is the effect on oil supply and prices. Iran sits near the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow but critical shipping route through which about 20% of the world’s oil trade passes. When tensions rise and shipping routes are threatened or disrupted, global oil markets react quickly. In recent weeks, the conflict has pushed oil prices sharply higher. At one point, crude oil surged above $100 per barrel, with spikes reaching even higher during periods of intense fighting and disruptions to shipping and energy infrastructure. Some analysts warn that if the conflict continues or worsens, prices could rise even further. Impact on Ordinary Citizens While the headlines focus on geopolitics and military operations, the real impact is often felt most by ordinary people. Inside Iran, civilians face growing economic pressure. Years of sanctions, combined with the current conflict, have weakened the economy. Many families deal with inflation, limited job opportunities, and rising prices for basic goods. When oil facilities are targeted or exports are disrupted, government revenue can drop, which may further strain public services and economic stability. Outside Iran, the effects are also felt in everyday life. Higher oil prices usually translate into higher fuel costs, which affect transportation, electricity generation, and the price of goods. As shipping and production costs increase, consumers around the world often experience higher prices for food, travel, and necessities. Economists warn that prolonged disruptions in the Middle East could contribute to global inflation and slower economic growth. Final Thoughts The Iran crisis shows how regional conflicts can quickly affect the entire world. Rising tensions threaten vital oil routes, pushing fuel prices higher and increasing the cost of living globally. While governments debate strategy and power, ordinary people (both in Iran and abroad) face the real consequences. These are through inflation, economic uncertainty, and daily financial strain. In an interconnected world, stability in key regions like the Middle East matters to everyone. | I’m really excited in the best way possible that I’m back to blogging! If memory serves me right, I’ve been at this for over fifteen years, starting way back in 2000. It’s a bit mind-blowing to realize how much time has gone by since those early days of just writing down whatever came to mind. Somewhere along the line, life and work took center stage. With deadlines, responsibilities, and the daily hustle, blogging fell by the wayside. Honestly, I can’t even remember exactly when I stopped—it just happened. But what’s important now is that I’m back at it. Jumping back into blogging feels like reuniting with an old friend. My writing has a different vibe now—it's more purposeful, grounded, and influenced by real-life experiences. I’ve not only grown professionally but also in my outlook, discipline, and sense of purpose. I’m truly happy to be reigniting my creative spark. This time, it’s more than just writing for the sake of it. It’s about sharing what I’ve learned, documenting my journey, and offering value to anyone else who might be on a similar path.
