While any Christian will acknowledge the need to repent and admit that there are false believers, they are often split on eternal security. Ironically the typically very fair minded and biblically sound men attack this fear on human arguments and not the totality of scripture. The main thrusts of both sides are spelled out below.

Types of argument for eternal security
1. Salvation is a free gift and can't be taken away becaus the one who is in us is greater than all

2. God does not have us walking in a spirit of fear and if we know Him we are called to walk boldly before Him repenting and denying our flesh.

3.God will not lose those he has predestined and or have been adopted as sons

Types of arguments against eternal security

1. The writings of Paul and Peter and references to the great apostacy

2. The covenants God made with individuals and nations old and New Testament

3.Jesus own warnings such as the grafted branches and elsewhere (this also spills over into the question of the unpardonable sin)

4. God's relationship with angels and the fall of Satan
