The One-Line Lyric Challenge is back with new prompts!
Two new songs will be posted each month with a related writing prompt.
The challenge, should you chose to accept it, is as follows.
Lyric Prompt:
Write a poem or story and include the prompt lyric in your work, word for word. It's up to you how you want to incorporate the line. If you don't like the provided lyric prompt, you can pick another line from the lyrics.
Song Prompt:
Write a poem or story inspired by the song. You do not need to include any lyrics directly, and in some cases there may not be any lyrics. Write whatever the music or lyrics inspires. Try not to copy the song too closely.
Entries are due at the end of the month for either prompt.
Please link back to the challenge somewhere in your entry using {item:lyric} or {image:2352588-60%} and post your entry as a link in the comments here.
The Prizes: 5K GPs, a merit badge, plus a guaranteed review of your entry.
If you enter both prompts that month, you will get double the prizes!
This is a challenge, not a contest. So you get prizes just for entering!
You are encouraged to listen and comment on the music or other people's entries, even if you don't plan to enter.
Her look at the end reminds me of my friend Felix from China. As for the song... yes, it should inspire me. My blog-rant-lite entry for today speaks about my need for changes. Yes, I can write to "got a new key".

Song Prompt:"Papa Was a Rolling Stone" by The Temptations (Project 21) (Prompt closed)
It was the third of September
That day I'll always remember, yes I will
'Cause that was the day that my daddy died
I never got a chance to see him
Never heard nothin' but bad things about him
Momma, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth
Momma just hung her head and said, son
Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Papa was a rolling stone, my son
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Hey Momma!
I heard Papa call himself a jack-of-all-trades
Tell me, is that what sent Papa to an early grave?
Folks say Papa would beg, borrow, steal
To pay his bills
Hey Momma!
Folks say Papa never was much on thinking
Spent most of his time chasing women and drinking
Momma, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth
Momma looked up with a tear in her eye and said, son
Papa was a rolling stone (well, well, well, well)
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Write a story or poem inspired by the song. No need to include specific lyrics.
Nothing feels more appropriate right now than the Blues, so here are some traveling blues for you this month.
Let John Popper and his harmonica take you on a little journey, but be back in time for supper.
I pick up my smile, put it in my pocket
Hold it for a while, try not to have to drop it
Men are not to cry, so how am I to stop it?
Keep it all inside, don't show how much she rocked ya
Ooh, can you feel the same?
Ooh, you gotta love the pain
Ooh, it looks like rain again
Ooh, I feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
The mountains win again
Dreams we dreamed at night were never meant to come to life
I can't understand the ease she pulled away her hand
This time in my life, I was hurt enough to care
I guess from now on I'll be careful what I share
Ooh, can you feel the same?
Ooh, you gotta love the pain
Yeah, it looks like rain again
Yeah, I feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
A pocket is no place for a smile anyway
Someday I will find love again will blow my mind
Maybe it will be that love that got away from me
Is there a line to write that could make you cry tonight?
Can you feel the same?
Yeah, ya gotta love the pain
Ooh, it looks like rain again
Ooh, feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
Ooh, the mountains win again
