I think there's been a mistake. It should be, How much wood does a woodchuck chuck when a woodchuck does chuck wood. I think it was confused with, How much ground would a groundhog grind if a groundhog did grind ground. Hopefully, it's as clear as mud now.

Just to clarify your dad's words ... if Wally sees his shadow, six more weeks of winter and if he doesn't see his shadow, spring arrives in six weeks? Hmmm ... so it's the same outcome either way? Makes sense.

that spring is on the way. However, I'm incredibly confused by this:

If someone goes into the woods any time of the year and woodchucks chuck wood at them, it's usually because the person is an asshole and the woodchucks just don't like them.

I was under the impression that a woodchuck could not chuck wood. If a woodchuck could chuck wood, why would we need to ask how much wood a woodchuck could chuck if it could chuck wood, rather than simply asking how much wood a woodchuck would chuck, period?

Wow! You're from northern Minnesota? You guys are like the first line of defense for those winter winds that Canada sends us. Couldn't you folks throw up a line of pines for a windbreak for we suffering slobs south of you?

Seriously, I enjoyed your tale. But you'll have to be satisfied with a few comments versus a full review. I'm currently on a Review quest of the 96 genres. Today's genre is Military, which doesn't quite fit your theme. I was glad to hear of your break in the block. Writer's suffer enough without that situation. And I like the idea of checking that critter at 5am. 'Short' weeks. Are they like "short' ribs?

- I had that same thought.

Speaking of rearranging--my wife collects hats. You know the baseball type. And she has those strap mechanisms that go over a door and holds about 12-15 hats each. She just decided the she needed more than the three straps she's had on the door going to the basement since we married more than 12 years ago. Ah, the bi-fold closet doors in my office room were not doing anything. But she got interrupted while fixing the straps to those doors.

Now there are more than 50 hats on the floor in my office that our cat uses as a bed. It amazes me what cats will sleep on.

And the Jackie Gleason Show. I was pretty young, but my dad always watched it. And the Flintstones, Woody Woodpecker, and Yogi Bear.

My grandma had the same TV! I liked Topo Gigio (pronounced Topo Jeejo) on the Ed Sullivan Show. I remember seeing the Beetle's first performance, though I was only seven years old. And the Smothers Brothers a few years later.
