A book all about my experiences in trying to be the woman I want to be.

I don’t want to aim small
I want to reach high
Grabbing hold of my aspirations
And pulling myself even further up

I don’t want to be small
I want to grow into my space
Letting others know who I am
And making sure they respect it

I don’t want to play small
I want to grab all the chips
Racing towards the finish line
And allowing myself to finish first

I don’t want to die small
I want to live outside my own expectations
Remaining strong in the face of adversity
And staying true to myself

I have to agree with you because when I have goals, I get scared of finishing them or not succeeding my goals in my life. When I was younger, I would read books and ignore the rest of the world. Since, I've gotten older, I have been a lot more matured to the person I am.

I like the way you describe The Lion King and that's what I pictured as I grew older. I didn't really get out of my own comfort zone but I need to now, so I can learn more about writing. I'm happy, I have continued to write and never gave up on my dreams.

I went through so much in my life but I became strong and God gave me the strength to keep going in my life.

I hope one day, I can read your book, if you decide to write one.

Absolutely, 100% agree with your hubby. You and Maya Angelou don't share the same experiences; therefore, your poetry doesn't compare. I'll tell you what I tell other bloggers who might be just starting out: Don't compare yourself to another writer. In the overall scheme of things, it's not a competition. You are you, and no one else is. Use that to your benefit, not a hindrance.

I think your poetry is beautiful and I love the writing I've come across of yours. You are talented, and the beauty of being a writer is our uniqueness makes us special and our voices strong for what we've gone through.

You're going to have days like this -- with this being especially so if you've ever hit a low in one or more ways.

I, too, have a book to write -- more than one, in fact -- and am actually starting to write portions of it online while waiting for the time when I can get back to writing the hard-copy book that I began writing over 20 years ago.

Everything comes together at the right time and in the right way. Just wait and see!!!

I don't know if I'm sorry I prompted this or not. Probably sorry.

I guess I was sort of where this took you.

-For someone relatively introverted and therefore people-avoident, I'm surprised by how many things I miss that involve not being at home.

-I realized I waste a lot of time. I mean pre-lockdown. I honestly can't do a lot, but I could be doing more little bits more regularly.

-I eat garbage foods.

-There's a lot of stuff I wanted to do, but always put off, because "tomorrow".

-I previously spent way too much money or way too many stupid things that have nothing to do with furthering the things I want to do.

-I spent way too much money in general.

And yes, I suffer from the similar problem of "I don't write like so-and-so" so what's the point?

The point is the world already has [insert poet/writer/artist].

Sometimes the world needs more *like* them. Sometimes the world needs the *opposite* of them.

"Beautiful" has various forms, and there are always detractors (seriously, not everyone likes Maya Angelou.)

To tell the truth, writing is, likely, what you need to be doing most at this time...just writing and getting in touch with your inner-self.

Ever so often, you can switch off and do something "practical" for awhile -- but always take the time to explore what's inside of you...

This book is currently empty.
