Bing Crosby I agree wasn't handsome but he did have a very nice voice. I love White Christmas, he co-starred with Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen. I watch White Christmas every year, the day after Thanksgiving while I'm writing Christmas cards. The first time I saw it was with my grandparents, it was a few years after it originally came out. I know I've seen it every year since I turned 18, it never grows old to me.

You were born a year later than I was. And yes, I found out that the song of the year of best book of the year ideas were not invented in those war days. I used to like Bing Crosby and my late husband had his LPs. I just don't recall the titles of his songs.

Oh my goodness, I'm glad you're recovering. That's quite a scare you had, Sue.

I hate when people talk to me like I'm a fragile old lady too.. I probably do more in one day than a lot of those youngsters and I'm sure you probably do as well.

Here's to August being everything you need it to be.

Sounds way to familiar, I've seen it happen in Norfolk, Va., Jacksonville, FL. and San Diego, Ca when I've gone to meet my son's ship.

My son was in the Navy, he used to joke about the girls swarming them when they came into port.

Wishing on a Star

Prompt: How about a little trivia fun--

What song was number one the year you were born or what book was number one on the New York bestsellers list the year you were born?
Are you familiar with the song or the book? Would you recommend either to us?

Well 1944 was a war year and I’m sure people were looking for happy songs or wishful songs.
“Swinging On a Star” was popular in 1944 and was sung by the legendary Bing Crosby. What a wonderful voice he had. I think it was featured in the movie of the year “Going my Way.”
I always thought Bing wasn’t terribly good looking but his costar Ginger Rogers was beautiful and an amazing dancer. Bing always used to get more accolades than Ginger but as it’s been often said “she did everything that Bing did, only in high heels and backwards!”
