I've been in lurk-mode for quite some time, aside from the occasional false start every couple months. I generally don't like talking about my personal life online, but...yeah, things have been overwhelming. My Writing.Com involvement hasn't been the only thing to take a hit as a result -- my reading and writing efforts have practically dropped off the radar.
I hate it. I'd like to change it.
When browsing through WdC to find something to "inspire" me to write, I happened across "Invalid Item" . I've never done much blogging, but the competition sounds like fun. So, why not?
Not sure what I'll write about here. I guess we'll find out eventually, won't we?

Life certainly has a way of intruding on our writing and the most inconvenient of times. I feel you there. GoT was so draining by the end of the July. And like you, I signed right up for I Write and I Write Romantic. . This place is still addicting to me. I think I enjoy the challenges of signing up and trying to complete things, even if I soon discover I have overextended myself. Sometimes we manage all of the things we want to accomplish as if it were not a long list to begin with. Other times, life happens and pulls us away. Think of it as downtime from the muse and WdC. I hear over and over again how we are always on the path we were intended to be. You may not realize it at those moments when you feel like you're drowning in other things, but looking back you realize you needed to be at a certain point in life to muddle through the next stage.
And in writing terms, those things that kept you away could possibly end up as a good twist in a story at some point in the near future. Keep plugging along. Life will calm down, just in time to pick back up again. It's a revolving circle for sure. Good luck with NaNo and accomplishing the rest of the goals you've set for yourself. You're already off to a good start.
Nice entry. Jane Eyre and David Copperfield are among my favorites, too. I find fictional characters to be better written in a more rounded way than biographies, unless an autobiography is written by an insightful, truthful person, which is very rare.
I'm also a bookworm. My husband is a TV addict. If it weren't for him, the TV would probably go to GoodWill.
I can understand your panic, which is almost like alien abduction. I have a bit of panic myself about GOT since I live in the hurricane zone, and the hurricane season started last month. It usually ends in November, which means the next few years, I'll be panicking, too.
Great answers to both prompts.
