As I understand it, the legal aspects of doing fan fiction only come into effect if you try to make money or some tangible benefit for yourself. You can write whatever for fun. Otherwise, you need to get permission.

I live in south-central Missouri, and contrary to what the politicians are claiming, our grocery prices have indeed gone up since the beginning of the year. I shouldn't have to search for the bargain basement price of the off-brand of a specific food that I used to buy, but can't afford now. In our case, WalMart has discontinued carrying many of the higher cost items. My wife does frequent the local Farmer's Market for a few bargains.

Sorry for the rant.

We worked in our front yard also today. I pulled weeds around the Crabby-Apple tree, she replanted flowers that we bought a couple of weeks ago. I've learned to enjoy 'watching the grass grow', but more than that, I love watching the bees, butterflies, and once in a while, a Hummingbird flitter around our small garden. Glad you do too!

I watch series from Thailand; but, I need to get out more with the nice weather. 70s and sunny today. I need to cut back on looking at this screen... what am I doing?

I seldom watch US reruns. I was there & then. I don't feel an urge to go back.

I think of it as a game. Some days you make great progress and some days the yard and house fly past you. As they try to sneak ahead, I catch them and warn them to not grow there. Some of them pay attention. The dust bunnies try to hide, but they can be chased out. A broom, vacuum and a hoe are the warrior's weapons.

All I can offer is "good luck" and "best wishes" that the troops stay in line. Maybe little vacations an hour or day at a time. And maybe the weeds and dust will take a short break with you. They're lazy without wind and water. Of course, that means you have to negotiate with Mother Nature.

It may not be fun until you make it so.

It's probably a good refresher to take the course. Heck, I'd do it myself to save a couple of bucks on Insurance. Insurance is crazy in California. A lot of companies have left because our insurance laws are wild. Glad you have that option.

Sounds like a pretty tasty dinner, although I have no idea how quinoa would impact the flavor. I, too, probably spend more time than is good for me at my computer - although, to be fair, just because my status is "Online" doesn't mean I'm actually in front of the screen - I get a bit of exercise chasing after my grandson. Do what you can to feel better, and to feel better about how you feel.

Birthday Parties

I attended a party for a 10-year-old yesterday before it poured rain. All the kids were on the trampoline when I got there. I was late, so I missed the usual birthday party routine. I got the scoop on what grades at school, which sports, and commented on how tall they were getting. We adults did our usual jokes and gossip.

Then my baby brother, the only one I have left, and is a senior citizen, passed out whistles from the Dollar Store to every kid there. There were about 12. The mothers in the front yard came running around, thinking the kids were hurt and screaming. I told my brother our nieces, not to mention the neighbors, were going to hate him. Let's just say after a few minutes of that they were not pleased.

Surprisingly, the father of 3 of the children, told me he had been without alcohol for 30 days. As far as I know he didn't have a drinking problem. He just wanted to be healthier. I asked if he felt different. The answer was yes. He started his days off wide awake, no morning fog. He claims it really pays off in the gym. He works out regularly, so he has noticed his pace and endurance has improved. He can do more reps when lifting. So that is a positive experiment for him. Too bad he waited for his 40's to discover this. It is good for now.

It always feels good to be with family, even briefly, to catch up on the news and see with my own eyes that everyone is well. I'm set until the next birthday or holiday comes up. (Labor Day is not a family day now that my parents are gone.) I wish the middle generation would come get their stuff out of my house. I may take some Simpson posters out to the kids who live half an hour away. I don't want to store them any longer. All the stuff we have collected just isn't wanted by those who come after us.
