Way back when, even at the end of the 19th century, US high-schools did have yearbooks but the themes became attached to them much later. I really didn't care for yearbooks at all, because their content was dominated by the school's administration, at least in my school.
I love reading always have..sometimes it's foes escape others just cause I like it. I become a part of the story and if anyone tries to talk to me..I never heard them!
I feel very similarly about reading being an escape from reality. Whether it was escaping the boredom of family camping/fishing trips as a kid, or escaping the stresses of professional/parenting life as an adult, I've always found comfort in disappearing into someone else's story for a while.
Such an excellent entry! I totally agree, especially with your second paragraph that begins with, "There is a part of me that believes..."
Sorry for all your losses. I can relate to your pain maybe because I went through very similar ones.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Our fur babies aren't just animals, they're family. I have four urns on my nightstand, Fluffy, Quasi, Purryl and Yeatsie, they're my cats. My daughter thinks it's morbid but I don't. They always slept with us at night so on the night stand works for me.
I hope you find comfort in all the joyful memories you shared.
So sorry for your loss! I can so understand your feelings about your Akita, such a great companion. Animals understand and feel for us in ways humans can't. I know this because I'm still mourning my cat that died suddenly about a year ago.
I hope, at least, you can find some comfort in the memory of her days with you.
