Sorry to have lost track of you. How did things turn out? Since February I've been to Kansas and Minnesota and soon will head south to Costa Rica (more comfortable than Houston).
I still love Little Debbie's; I'll pass on the Dew though.
I don't write short stories, but there is no action with the main character, the orphaned father; and nothing that startles me enough to make me want to read further. What is this story about? I would say incorporate this background stuff later (maybe bit by bit). If you make it a separate item you can ask opinions though from story tellers they will be able to help.
Well, just do the best you can. Some days are just plain ... blah. Even a short snippet counts. "The Loss" has that nice parallel: lost sock, lost time.
On top of the rubbish pile there is no need to look down. The odors will tell you all you need to know.
I'm older (not necessarily wiser) so my generation isn't doing the MyFace-Spaced-out-Book ... enough of us were spaced out 30 - 40 years ago and our faces have wrinkles.
I think the "stalker" issue is really generational as well. The fear of all strangers was taught to children and it is viciously biting back. You will have to decide whether to trust or not.
Tell someone? Not necessarily. They may be better off not knowing. Afterall, in the example, nothing may be gained. Better to vow to not do it again ... and then keep the vow and not do it again!
Well ... anything is worth blogging about. I usually include my poetry, a slice of my day, whatever comes to mind. There are writing journals, humorous entries, rants, articles, this-is-my-therapy, travel logs, and the ever present how-to-write-with-ten-kids-wrapped-around-my-ankles. Pictures of dogs are also popular! Visit some other blogs around Blogville and you will get some ideas of your own.
