I wonder if the President of Ukraine is afraid to be in the same place as Putin. For some reason, I don't think he's going to be there, which doesn't seem to make much sense. I hope they find peace is all. Peace for there and peace for Israel and Palestinians. Wouldn't that be nice to have peace for a while?

I've always remembered this horrendous crime and the weird control Manson had over his followers. I'm glad he died alone in prison but sadly he still had a following from prison. That too me is insane how anyone can see him as a leader.

I remember it. I thought that Brad Pitt movie did a good job of turning the tables on the killers. It was a scary time. I remember Manson used the Beatles White Album to try and make trouble. He was trying to create a race war and was a lot like the media is now. I know that Sharon Tate's mother and sister fought to not have any of those horrid people released. But it happened some anyway. Scary time. It makes me wonder what everything means in the end.

Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis was number 1 the year I was born (1956) The book was Old Yeller by Fred Gipson. I have my grandmother's copy of Old Yeller, that she bought in 1956. It's been read and re-read.

I remember the song 16 Ton by Tennessee Ernie Ford, my father loved that song.

That 50s music is more the stuff my brother likes. I bet he liked 16 Tons. I remember Beatles being the first music I really liked enough to buy. Maybe Peter Paul and Mary, too!

I took as many Literature classes as I could fit in my schedule. I love Hemingway and Fitzgerald. I agree with you there are some great Russian authors Tolstoy, Checkov, and Vladimir Mayakovsky's poetry.

How lovely you got to spend 6 weeks with her. I know the feeling when you visit with someone who's known you almost all your life. I have a high school friend who is like that when we get together. We remember all the fun and crazy days back then.

Shopping...you mention stores I go to in Florida since they are so close to me there. I have to drive a bit to get to a Marshalls where I live up North. Also, there's no Beals around.

Update on smoke from Canada. It's down here in full force. Today's been the worst so far. I'm inside the house, but the smell still permeates its way in. My allergies are on high alert. Can't we put some giant fans on the Northern border and blow the smoke back? It belongs to them, after all!

I majored in Literature. I found authors I loved in college. I took a course on Fitzgerald and Hemingway. Also DH Lawrence. I took one on Russian Literature and we read Dr. Zhivago, War and Peace and Crime and Punishment. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Russian authors.

Sharon Tate

Prompt:Sharon Tate was murdered on this day in 1969. She and some friends were murdered in her ranch home. Lyn asked what we remember about this awful crime. Charles Manson ordered his group of followers to murder them. Lyn asked about how we felt the media handled reporting this crime and how they would report it today.

Sharon Tate. I loved her in Valley of the Dolls. She played in The Beverly Hillbillies. I was saddened by her death. I thought she was beautiful and I wanted to look like her. The beautiful actress murdered and five of her friends. Charles Manson was nuts and gave hippies a bad name. I went through a hippie stage and I am not ashamed to admit it. I didn't hurt anyone or murder anyone. I was peaceful and still am. Charles Manson stayed in prison all his life. He should have gotten the chair. Doris Day's son had lived in the house but moved. He claims Doris"s son was a music producer and had promised him a singing career. He sent his cut throat followers to murder Doris's son. His followers got there and killed Sharon and her friends. I don't think Charles and his followers cared who they killed. They took a chain saw and cut the baby out of Sharon. She was pregnant. This always bothered me.

The media. They would have covered it more and it would have been all over the internet, YouTube in this day and age. Back then, we just had newspapers and TV. I can't understand how Charles Manson escaped the death penalty. He was beyond mentally ill.

I have a scrapbook of Sharon Tate her family had published. I adore this book. I love watching Valley of the Dolls. The woman had a promising career. Her family made sure Manson was never granted parole. People on the outside would have done him in. Sharon, her baby and her friends didn't deserve to be murdered by Mansons worthless creeps. That's me being nice. The world will never forget this awful, brutal crime. Charles died in prison. I don't think anyone grieved for him. I don't talk about stuff like this but I saw the prompt and had to say what is on my mind.
