Looking for Inspiration

At five o'clock,
I set watching the evening sky:
         watching for inspiration in the clouds;
         watching for inspiration in the sun;
         watching for inspiration in anything
                   moving across the sky.

At five o'clock,
I set praying for inspiration:
         praying for inspiration in the weather;
         praying for inspiration in the people;
         praying for inspiration in the yard;
         praying for inspiration in anything I see.

At five o'clock,
I set watching and praying for inspiration
and I find it
not in the external things of my environment,
but in myself.
