The history of Prosperous Snow written for the group Reminiscences |
The Pleasures I Have Known These are the pleasures I have known, The subtle joys of a life well lived, Remembered through the veil of time, When darkness threatens to overshadow light. First is the scent of the morning dew, Beaded on the lilacs purple bloom, When spring greens the Oklahoma hills, Where fields of wild flowers and feral grasses grew. Second are the verse of God's holy Books, Verses read in the early morning light, When I felt the Holy Spirit flow, Uniting all in God's eternal love. Third is the silken fur of a long haired cat, DC's purr echoed through the house, As I stroked him in the night, Waiting for sleep to come. Fourth is the protective bark of a family dog, Specs, a Springer spaniel, who fostered kittens, Washed them after their birth mother fed them, And protected both from strangers. Poet's Note: ▶︎ |
