My folder for October prep. |
15 minute extra brainstorm Leigh and Isabella become friends when Leigh runs into Isabella at the library, where she is practicing writing an article under a pen name. Ghosting, as she calls it, is her best shot at getting published. Isabella and Leigh hit it off well, and Leigh helps her with her article on a medical advancement by telling her where to find information and lending her knowledge to her. When Isabella learns that Leigh is the daughter of the famous Cornelius Cyrus Baker, she begs Leigh for the chance to interview him for an article. Along the way, the two become close, and she invites Leigh out to her family’s farm. At the farm, the family gets to know Leigh well, and Isabella becomes Leigh’s only confidante when it comes to her clockwork heart and the configuration of Emy. In this I think I might have to rethink the title as it’s not really about the Clockwork cat but more of Leigh’s Clockwork Heart. However, I’m hesitant to call it the Clockwork Heart, maybe there’s a better word or term for it. Maybe Leigh’s Heart or the Heart of Leigh. We’ll see. Anyway, the farm needs to be fleshed out, especially the Irish traditions used in the early 1900s in Philadelphia. Hopefully I can find some information on Irish immigrants, which will help tremendously. There are two horses, some goats, chickens, and turkeys. There are two barn cats, which help keep the mice in the barn down and keep the farmed hay and wheat fresh. I think I need to research what the main crop of the 1900s was especially among the Irish. I’m thinking it’s probably potatoes because of the potato famine in Ireland, but I need to check. Wow I went a long time…Need to make a list of research topics and urls. Serenity to you and yours!
