October 3rd Bonus Assignment

Have your protagonist introduce themselves to us in first person using their own voice. Brainstorm ways to make their voice unique. Add the introduction to your character database (if applicable.)

"I'm Leigh Baker, more properly known as Leigh Chastity Baker," rolls eyes, then continues, "I'm my father's lab assistant! I work alongside him making clockwork machines and learning doctoring as well. My father invented clockwork pets, the marvel sweeping through Philadelphia. He also saved my beloved cat Emy by using machinery and doctoring together to save her! He's a brilliant man, and he's taught me everything he knows. Don't tell my stepmother, she'd have a fit if she knew I was learning how to do things rather than just assisting with documents and lab equipment. It's not ladylike, she'd say. I don't care, I want to be a doctor like my father. I want to save lives like he saved Emy and," lowers voice to a whisper, "me. Can I tell you a secret? Promise not to tell anyone? And I mean anyone at all? Good. I have a clockwork heart that runs in my body. For the most part, my heart is biological but there was a hole in it and it beat irregularly. He created a clockwork mechanism that pumps blood regulating my heart rate and he stitched up the hole in my heart when I was born. I know he's amazing!" Raises voice again, "That's why I want to be a doctor like my father. I'm good but I'm not sure I'll ever be as good as him. Though I sure intend on trying. My stepmother wants me to become engaged and married, but I'm not about all that, unless the man would support me in my doctoring. Unfortunately, that's not very realistic. Neither is my dream really. I'll just be a librarian for the rest of my life, especially if my stepmother has her way. Somehow though I will be a doctor!"
