There are always times when the truth is hard to tell. This one, Sally thought, was heart-breaking; she hadn’t expected to face this yet, if ever. As the front door slammed, Sally found Darlene looking at her with those huge questioning eyes. Eight years old, she was waiting for an answer to her question ‘Why did daddy say it doesn’t matter if you want me to stay or not, you’re not my baby girl anyway’.
