| He stalks his prey, Before going in for the kill, Gentleness of a monster As his teeth dig in. On star lit night, He found me under the trees, Questioning look In those vicious eyes. As darkness engulfed us, He moved in closer, The smell of his breath Right under my nose. My heart beat faster, Unable to move, I let him explore, Shaken from head to toe. When he at last Lay next to me, I touched his snout, Dug my fingers into his fur. A beast he may be, Hunting at night, But he saw in me A kinship of some kind. Together we roam, The woods and the fields, Exhausted we lay, Dreaming of a better place. |
