A prompt/writing entry a day |
Superman's closet is a dinosaur; long-necked head dangling unfed, starving for a dime. Just hanging around, waiting. No longer toned or necessary. Fossil of the future--handled. Once upon a connection when disconnected from home; we carry our world in our back pocket now. Operators mute. Spare change now destined for jars-- once kept for that emergency call. Collect when broke. Numbers memorized. We kept contact lists in our brains. I still remember my number as a child. I know no numbers now. Forgotten quarter left in change slot, once a treasure. Unexpected extra moment or two to say 'I love you.' one more time. Sadly, that's extinct too. |
