Puppy Love

Give me your hand
I'll give you my heart,
we'll walk together,
side by side.

Forget the leash
let's play in the rain
we'll both get muddy
and no one will care.

I'll see you off
when you go to school
and wait for you
each day, to return.

I'll eat your homework
and you'll get mad,
put me outside
and make me sad.

By your bed
I'll be each night,
keeping you safe
snuggling tight.

When we grow older
we won't play much,
I'll listen to you
eager for your touch.

Next to you,
whenever you cry,
licking the tears
until your face is dry.

On my death bed
you'll shed big tears,
just know that I loved you
so have no fears.
