Coffee and Laundry

Unwashed
for seven days
my coffee cup awaits
this morning's freshly brewed carafe
of joe

I pass
piles of laundry
beckoning me to lug
them to the laundromat when I
have time

By the
coffeemaker
waiting for time to pass
I contemplate the reason for
my life

I pour
a steaming cup
of ambition and sip
in the silence of an autumn
morning

I long
for the answers
that meditation brings
to my weary mind and soul at
sunrise
