single: five-line syllabic verse of the pattern 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2

string: five-line syllabic verse of the pattern 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2 repeated up to 4 times

butterfly: nine-line syllabic verse of the pattern 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2 / 8 / 6 / 4 / 2

crown: a sequence of five cinquains

garland: a sequence of six cinquains in which the final cinquain is composed of lines from the preceding five (generally L1 from S1, L2 from S2, L3 from S3, etc...)

Another form, sometimes used by school teachers to teach grammar, is as follows:

Line 1: Noun
Line 2: Description of Noun
Line 3: Action
Line 4: Feeling or Effect
Line 5: Synonym of the initial noun.
