A collection of kids/YA first person short stories (Quills '13 Nominee) |
| Granny went away today, I know not where. And they say I’ll not see her, but still she’s there. Granny went away today, and the grown-ups tiptoe so. They talk in whispers; quiet voices saying let her go. I don’t understand and I don’t see why, But Granny went away today and I didn’t say bye. I’ll be good! I won’t stamp my feet or shout. Just let me in, don’t shut me out. I’ll behave – let me see her once more. Let her walk back in, in through the door. Granny went away, without a cuddle, without a hug. But her plate’s still there and so’s her mug. Let me have just one more giggle, one more kiss. Of all the people gone away, it’s you I’ll miss. |
