Chapter 7 - Showing

Showing = gives an experience rather that a general idea of the character.

Showing is to story, what heat is cooking.

Telling cuts you and the reader out of the experience.

Showing = Real Time

Telling - use it rarely

Make your story worth showing.

In flashbacks - can be partial
         -show pieces and tell fragmented memories. (p. 105)

Telling = ideas                              Showing = experience

Deeply held ideas come from experience

Challenge = getting feelings into words.
