| Outside the snow is parsing back Melted by the sun; It slinks into the dark patches Trying to hold its ground. In the trees, still bare and brittle Sits new life As birds flit from branch to branch Calling out their song. Squirrels dance and make merry Along the fences and across The barren grass. It calls to the sun in silent hope To bring new life to its deadened soul Spring touches down with warm delight Soon colour will burst And flowers will dance on the breeze Soft with the whisper of freshness And beauty and the world Will come alive again.
