Voice

Voice

"Find your voice,”
thundered the teacher.
Students of senior high
stared in mute wonder.

“I already have one,
Sir,” muttered a little bird.
“I listen to too many,”
worried a blond boy.

“Concentrate, control
And correlate while
You write or compose
your autobiography in

thirteen short sentences,”
continued the man, running
his fingers through  a wavy
spring of disheveled hair.

Within minutes he had
me glued to desk writing away
with unstoppable gusto.
He did it, our loving

English teacher, Mr. Dudley.
