Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
I returned a book I purchased at the Friends of the Library Sale...rofl. No great loss since I only paid ten cents for it, but it's the idea that is so goofy. The book, Sharyn McCrumb's Once Around the Track, was about Nasar Racing, not one of my favorite topics. Why I bought it in the first place is a mystery, but I did read it, and I learned a lot about Nascar racing. If I ever go to a race (highly doubtful), I will know there are only 43 Cap drivers, as they are called. They wear firesuits which make them look bigger (and better) than life. All tracks are not the same length or the same degree of difficulty. All drivers have huge egos, some are kind, some not. It's the Team that wins the race, not the driver alone, although he or she usually gets all the credit. The teams are always trying to come up with sneaky ways to win (like soaking the tires for good qualifying times and higher placement in the lineup), ways not yet disallowed by the Nascar organization. All this info is true if Sharyn McCrumb did her research, which it sounded like she did, but I certainly would not know for sure... ![]() Strange I never got interested in Nascar racing since I originate from Dover, De, where a big race is coming up on the 15th. I cannot stand the noise. In fact, I detest the vacuum cleaner, the lawnmower, the edger, and all other noisy things. That's supposed to be a sign of something troubling to do with the brain, I think, but I have suppressed it.... ![]() until next time....c |
