Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
It has been a perfect sunny weekend here in North Central Florida...maybe a little warm but I'm not complaining. While sitting here thinking about how nice it has been, I've been admiring a tufted titmouse hopping around outside my window http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/tufted_titmouse/id. He (or she) dives down into the birdbath, splashes around, then jumps up onto the porch railing and shakes himself off like a wet dog. Then he hops up onto the feeder, pecks around until he finds just that right seed, pops it open while spitting out the shell, and puts each side of his beak on the perch like he's sharpening a knife. All the while he's keeping one eye peeled on me through the window, but he's no scaredy cat. Birds are interesting to watch and there are many different kinds where I live, new ones coming and old ones going almost monthly, it seems. While sitting on the backporch with Mopsy this morning, I saw bluejays, wookpeckers, brown thrashers, morning dove, numerous sparrows and wrens, my resident bluebirds, and even a spicebush swallowtail. Right, that's not a bird, it's a butterfly. He was enamored with some of my flowers (yellow ones) and hung around all morning...so long that even Mopsy got bored with him. Jim's blood pressure is continuing to improve so tomorrow afternoon we hit physical therapy again...yay. He's happy too. I have had bunches of good reviews on my Blueberry story so I have reformatted it in Ms. Word and "shipped" it out to several sites....here's hoping. I also sent it to our local Senior Times Magazine (they've published for me before). Blueberry season will arrive here in June so I thought they might use it as a story of interest. I hope the gator is not too scary...lol... until next time...c |
