Saw a black snake today...
I was out for my walk, just strolling along the sidewalk, when I heard rustling in the dead leaves and almost fainted when I saw a black snake slithering away from me. Whew! I'm scared of snakes. I guess he (or she) was scared of me, too, considering his speedy departure. He was probably close to the highway looking for water in the drainage ditch, but right now there isn't any. And I saw a dead something on the road, possum I think. We have displaced so much wildlike with our housing developments...makes me sad.

I walked, again, to the development with the old grave site and took some pictures this time. Mary Ellis lived from 1815 to 1855, there were no months and nothing else that I could read on the stone, 40 years old. I wonder what she died of...maybe in childbirth. I'll bet in a million years she could not have imagined some old woman would be looking at her grave stone on February 26th, 2011, and wondering how she died! I wonder if there was a census back then?

It was another beautiful day here, close to 80F, just warm enough to break a slight sweat on my walk. The development has trees planted all along the sidewalks, and I think they are apple trees...just starting to come out in bloom. I broke off one little twig and brought it home with me to put in water. I have a pretty glass container that is actually oblong. I keep some colored pebbles and shells in it, so I just added water and stuck the twig down into it...looks so pretty in the sunshine of the garden window. I think it will continue to come out in bloom, pink and white.

This morning, Jim wanted, of all things, a deluxe MacDonald's breakfast...ugh...sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, and a whopper biscuit. I did eat one pancake...pretty good. I think he is all well now...lol.

until next time...c
