A holiday and nothing to do...

Well, you know Jim and I were hard up for something to do today because we ended up changing the oil in the lawnmower. That is, Jim directed and I changed the oil, since he is still not feeling up to par. It ended up being a very simple job after we went to Tractor Suppy and got the oil (SAE30, HD). Our mower has this little plastic thing in place of an oil plug. All you do is turn it to the left, pull it out just a little, flip off the yellow cap and out comes the old oil (just make sure you have a pan already under it, of course). It took a while to drain and it was black, black even though Jim changed it last year. Then I did the little plastic thing in reverse, yellow cap back on, push it in, and turn to the right, simple. Next, I took out the dipstick, put the blue funnel in the hole, and added 1 quart of the oil, let it settle, and checked where it came to on the dipstick...perfect. I'm writing this all down so that next year, if necessary, I can come back to this entry and read my directions and I won't need any help. I put the receipt for the oil in the truck glove compartment so I will know the exact day to change it. All I have to do is remember I put the receipt in the glove compartment....

We had more spaghetti for supper (left over from yesterday) and it was even better today, so I didn't have much preparation or clean-up

It was such a nice day, I even had energy to clean the floor on the back porch and wash off the lawn chairs. Everything is spic n span awaiting the beginning of the descent of the pine pollen. If you have ever lived in Florida around pine trees, you will know it is to be dreaded. A yellow dust settles over everything, but when it comes, you know spring is here....
