Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
My hubby has been so sick yesterday and last night, I was up with him almost all night. Thankfully, he is getting a little better today but still not up to par. He gets dehydrated very fast and that makes him weak so we have to resort to the wheel chair instead of his walker. He fell last night coming out of the bathroom and I thought I was going to have to call 911, but between the two of us inching along, he finally got back to the bed. He's not got much of an appetite yet and that prolongs the dehydration. Being a diabetic, there are only certain things he can drink...Gatorade a nono, pedialite a maybe...and, of course, he wants to be obstinate, refusing to drink much at all and thinking he can do more than he can. Men! And a Taurus to boot. Beautiful cannot describe how nice today was...in fact, it's still 75 degrees right now at 6 P.M. Nothing beats open windows, birdies singing, and the smell of porterhouse steaks sizzllng on the grill. For some reason I've been thinking about the Steel Pier in Atlantic City (back in the 60's) when Grady and Hurst hosted Summertime on the Pier. I think it came to me when someone who reviewed "Cenia" thought my setting might be Atlantic City. I really didn't have any place in mind, but it could have been. I guess the Pier is not even there now. I heard the end of it, the Grand Ballroom, where Grady and Hurst were, burned and then I think the actual Steel Pier got destroyed by a hurricane. Maybe I heard they rebuilt it out of concrete.... Anyway, I have some really good memories of Atlantic City. The Grady and Hurst Show was like American Bandstand, great music, some live performers, and dancing. Those were the days. Even the windburn and saltwater taffy! I guess now everything has been modernized by The Donald. until next time....c |
