More news on the student murder...

Some new information appeared today in the local paper. Saleha Huuda, the girl who was killed, had a couple of records on file with the local police. Early last year, after an altercation with her boyfriend, Anthony Drayto, he broke into her apartment, assaulted her, and stole some items. She called the police intending to press charges, then later refused to press charges saying he had taken only things he had given her. Later in 2010, Drayto's new girlfriend was "somewhat" assaulted by Huuda, apparently Huuda knocked some pizza out of her hand, and the new girlfriend filed a restraining order against Huuda. Thickens the plot...but motives for murder? I think not. A memorial service is planned for Huuda this week. She was a dancer as well as a cheerleader, and a university senior who wanted to work with children in some capacity. Twenty-four years is a terribly short life. I looked her up on FB and sure enough, she was there. The police have a wealth of information at their fingertips. She was a native of Ghana, coming here with her parents as a little girl. Great potential gone for no reason. I feel so sorry for her parents.

It drizzled off and on today but mostly nice. I'm thankful for the rain (even after my tirade yesterday). The birdies are in the water flapping their wings and splashing their friends. Today outside my window I saw an entire family of chicadees, big and little ones. They are so cute with their little black caps! Mopsy stands in the window trying to stare them down...but somehow they know she is not a threat to them. At first she seems frustrated but after a while she just lays down and is content to watch them. When she finally goes away to catnap, one hopped up on the outside sill. Where's a camera when you need it? Oh well, it only stayed a second...
