Day to day stuff....a memoir without order.

We Won!
My Gators won the Outback Bowl (sorry, Joe Pat). It make me very happy they won the last game for Coach Myer, and I could tell he was ecstatic, he and his whole family. The team played their hearts out for him. What a perfect way to start off the new year.

And what a perfect day we had...79 degrees! This is what Florida is supposed to be.

Today, I made my famous New Year's Day navy beans, ham, and cornbread...visit at your own risk...lol. It was delicious if I do say so myself. Tomorrow, down comes the tree, and I can't say I will be sorry to see it go. Putting the tree up is always so much fun, seeing the ornaments and decorations after an entire year's time always brings back so many good memories. Then grandkids visit and pick out the ones they made when they were little and say "Grandmom, I didn't know you still had that." They try to hide that prideful smile, but I still see it. It seems like yesterday they were presenting their masterpieces to me. But tomorrow everything comes down and gets put away...for another year.

Today I put up my new calendars and put away my one old one,,,the one I keep notes on throughout the year. I always keep that one. I can look back at them and know exactly what I was doing...say on the 14th of April 2003, It's amazing. Sometimes It seems like I'm reading about a different person. I've always kept old calendars even though they are "just the facts." I think it has something to do with my organizational tendencies. I love organizing things and when I look at that old calendar, my life seems so organized. It should come in very handy if I ever get alzheimers.

My New Horizon Cache Class starts next Friday. Yes, I decided to sign up. It sounds like it is going to be a very important class for me. I loved school and always enjoyed taking classes throughout my life. There's nothing like learning something new to make you feel younger. Before I stumbled onto this site over two years ago, writing a story had never entered my mind. When I entered that first contest (and entered a couple more times and won), I was hooked. I'm almost in another world when I write a story. Bombs could be going off outside and I wouldn't hear them. Now I have to learn how to write stories people want to read. Hopefully, I have enough imagination to do that....

Until next time....c
