Day to day stuff....a memoir without order.

Catching up...
I've procrastinated on my blog over the holidays, so just to catch up...

Our wildfires are out at Lochloosa with only paper company forest burned. Our most noticeable result is a burn ban which means no fireworks for New Year's Eve. I can't say that makes me sad...or my kitty, Mopsy. The pops and booms always send her running, and I worry about debris landing on the roof.

Jim has been excused from jury duty...yeah. I will probably be summoned soon. I haven't served since nine eleven...yup, that's right. I was in a jury room when it happened. I have a story about it somewhere in my port.

Erica had a blizzard for Christmas...only 17 inches but 50 mile per hour winds to make life and shoveling miserable. She kept shoveling out on Sunday thinking she would have to go to work on Monday but the driving ban was on so she got another day off. The ground is still white since it has been too cold to melt.

We have warm days, cold days, warm days, cold days...you get the picture...very hard to get used to. Today and the weekend is supposed to be in the 70's with rain on Sunday. We'll probably get five drops. Birdies are flocking in droves to my birdbaths and the pileated woodpeckers are still here...really unusual.

For those who keep looking up, there is a meteor shower due on January 3-4 around midnight (the Quadranteds). Find the Big Dipper's tail and you should see some shooting stars. It's also a new moon so it should be really dark and hopefully clear.

I have read two good books over the holidays, almost finished the second one. The first was a P. D. James Dalgliesh mystery and the second is a mystery by Michael Crichton (A Case of Need). I picked both of them up at the booksale in October and happily found them while the library was closed over the holidays. The Crichton book is about doctors which reminds me of Greys Anatomy (the tv show, not the book). When it first aired, I got addicted but it has become so sappy and soap operaish, I can't stand to watch it anymore. But I do enjoy a good, gory doctor/hospital book...just what the doctor ordered...lol.

Until next time.....c
