Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
One of the nicest things about the holidays is getting cards from old friends and catching up on what they have been doing throughout the year. Lots of people write a sort of one year biographical letter, which, to me, is really interesting. When I was younger and got these "one size fits all" Christmas card inserts, I thought they were impersonal and maybe just a little braggy. Now that I'm older, it's just nice to hear from friends no matter how the message is sent. I think the people who make up these letters are actually "wannabe" writers. They must keep notes during the year because I certainly could not remember all that has happened, even the little that has happened to me. I would need to consult my journal to refresh my memory. I have kept many of these Christmas letters throughout the years, and after reading back over some, most are written very well indeed. I wish I had kept them all. I am such a packrat, I'm surprised I didn't. My daughter's Bean boots arrived and she loves them. She says her "piggies" are finally warm. A white Chistmas is forecasted for Delaware. A huge forest fire (over a thousant acres) is being fought not too far from here close to 301 east of Gainesville. The local news last night said it haa jumped across 301. Because of the wind direction, we have not had any smoke yet but that could change anytime. I have encountered that before and I can empathize with the breathing problems of those in the wind direction. We have been in a drought situation for awhile now. Happy Holiday to everyone....until next time....c |
