Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
Dinner is over and the dishes are done and now it's me and the computer. At this moment the thing I am most thankful for is writing .com. Dinner was delicious, family is great, but the quiet time after is the best of all. The bird migration is in full swing. Today, I heard then saw the two pileated woodpeckers that visit our yard every spring and fall. If you have never seen these creatures, check out pictures of them on google image...they are beauties. When they sound their call, you might think you are in the Amazon Jungle, a sort of high shrill turkey cackle. Once you've heard it, you'll always remember it. The pair arrive together and stay around a week, munching the bugs in our pine trees and drinking from the birdbaths. There are two things in today's news I would like to comment on. One is Sarah Palin's latest foot in mouth on Beck. In case you missed it, she said we are allies of North Korea. That woman just talks too much. I cringe everytime I hear her name. The other thing is Cam Newton's arrest (a Florida quarterback) for stealing another student's laptop in 2008, who has gone on to bigger and better things for Auburn (troublewise). I'm just sick to death of football players (and other sports too) thinking they can do anything and not have to answer to the law...and then their coaches try to get them off. It's sad our youth are looking up to these players. We were so lucky to have Tim Tebow. Unfortunately, there are not many like him. Glancing through the tv listings, it looks like a good movie, November Christmas, is schedule for Sunday night on CBS. I think it's a Hallmark...finally something worth watching. I was lucky enough to get Freedom (Oprah's monthly pick) at the library yesterday. Can't wait to start it so... until next time....c |
