Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
I am flu-proof, supposedly...got my shot yesterday. Jim's doc says a very mild flu season is expected this year. Hopefully, that pans out to be true. Lots of people are walking and jogging in our development enjoying the seventy and eighty degree temps we are having...me too. I love this time of year, cool enough to be sweat-free and crisp enough for everything to look like the auto-contrast has been clicked. Some don't believe it but here in north central Florida we do have some beautiful leaf colors, yellows on the hickory and reds on the sweetgum, it just happens a little later in the fall season. And the air smells like fall, some woodsmoke once in a while. Houses tend to be cooler than outside. I think it's due to the concrete pads they are built on. Nobody I know has a basement here. As the ground cools off, it comes up throught the floor and keeps the houses cooler, bad when heating season comes but nice right now. I've been seeing on tv about the gentleman who had his urostomy pouch popped open by a patdown at a Detroit airport. I can imagine his distress since my Jim has a very similar device. The man said he tried to explain his situation to the worker, but he would not listen. Are these people automatons or are they human? Have we been overtaken by robots and don't know it? I understand only a very small percentage are getting these patdowns and they are random. I wonder how that serves the purpose. That's like stopping every fifteenth car on the road to see if the driver is drunk. Don't police need a reason to stop you first? Unless they advertise a checkpoint? The patdowns will probably continue because not enough people are being affected to have a voice in the matter. The man will never forget this Thanksgiving and not because it was a happy one. I feel for him. Until next time......c |
