Day to day stuff....a memoir without order.

All went well...
Everything went well with Jim's doctor appointment today. We even finished sooner than expected and stopped for a late lunch before going home, a happy ending to a somewhat dreaded day. A lot of preparation goes into it, and it always interferes with Jim's normal routine. He can get around the house with a walker, but for a doctor's visit we take the wheelchair...he just cannot walk that far. Then, if you know anything about being a diabetic, mealtimes are very structured. Today called for fasting labs so a snack has to be prepared for after the labs while waiting for the doctor. That throws lunch off and lunch throws dinner off. All in all today was a good one, tomorrow we'll be back to normal.

Just before we left, I had to chase Mopsy around the porch trying to get her back inside and the little rascal scratched me good (or bad) on the fat part of my palm below my thumb. It bled and bled, finally stopped after running cold water on it for five minutes. I gave her a piece of my mind, literally I think, because for the rest of the day, my brain did not seem to be working. I had to stop for gas and when I inserted my card, nothing appeared in the screen. I went inside, the attendant came out, he said he could see it but it was very dim (in addition to my being short and seeing it at an angle). When we got to the doctor's office, they have rows of angled handicap parking and for some reason I only looked to the right. Seeing someone getting into their car, I put on my right hand turn signal to let the truck behind me know I was waiting. He kept blowing his horn and finally I looked to the left and saw an open spot just sitting there vacant as all getout. Who knew? Then, when we got in the elevator at the doctor's office (it only goes to one floor), another person got on and asked me what floor and like an idiot, I said "2". He thought that was really funny. I won't write anymore because I'm getting embarrassed!

Anyway, all's well that ends well. After the nightly news, I watched an old movie, "A Death in the Family" by James Agee...seen it many times but still enjoyed it. It quieted me down. It was set in 1913, the year my grandparents were married. It's interesting to relate something personal to time periods in movies and see how things were for people who were close to you,

I had something different for dinner...V8 Southwestern Corn Soup. It was delicious...I could feel the burn all the way to my gizzard! I love hot stuff.

Until next time.....c
