Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
My Jim was very sick this morning. He had his colon removed in 2007 (ulcerative colitis) and has an ileostomy. From time to time he gets blockages which make him very sick. We try to be very careful with what he eats but sometime even a little bit of coleslaw turns into a nightmare. I thought this morning was going to be the start of one (because it usually ends with a trip to the hospital for dehydration) but he seems to be getting better...drinking water and chicken broth and keeping it down so far. He's an insulin dependent diabetic so we have to be vigilant with that also. He has a scheduled doctor's visit on Friday. Hope we make it until then. I saw a robin this morning...on his way south. He stopped for a drink and gave me back a smile. I assume this means winter is setting in for good up north. Sometimes I do miss the snow...that is, looking out at it through the window. As soon as the temp outside get below 40, I'm freezing and perfectly happy to be living in Florida. Erica, our daughter, who lives in Delaware, says it was foggy and felt like snow this morning but not cold enough yet. I see the next Harry Potter movie is due to be released, Part 1 of Harry and the Deathly Hallows. Even though I'm 66 and a grandmom, I love Harry and J K Rowling. I had all the Potter books reserved at Amazon long before they came out. Although I did love the story and the characters, her names for things is what really fascinates me. For example, muggles...now what else could that be but us? Though her words are made up through her imagination, they just seem to exactly fit the things she attaches them to. I guess that is why she is famous and I am not...lol. I do have a hard time watching the movies, though. I'm just more of a reader, I guess. I'm debating on whether or not to get a flu shot. I've never had one before and haven't even had a cold in two or three years but that 66 keeps staring me in the face and everyone says I should. Guess I will try to find out tomorrow where to go. Jim will get his Friday probably...hmmm. You live life looking forward, you try to understand it looking backward, the lucky ones succeed (author unknown)... Until next time.....c |
