A surprise...

When I started my Sunrise Class, I thought it would make my writing more of a job, less of an artistic expression, more attention to the rules. It has had the reverse effect. I admit, I did have to force myself to practice leaving out the adverbs. I determined to replace them with strong verbs, but with practice, it becomes easier. Now, I am disgusted when I read over older stories in my port and notice all those hideous "ly" words.

I entered the Flash today and used not one "ly" word. I am anxious to see if my story stands up to scrutiny. I realize no adverbs do not guarantee a good story but even I can see the difference. One can have artistic expression and good storytelling.

I had an email yesterday requesting to use a couple of my stories in some educational software. There are outsiders who regularly read our ports. Just check your stat info. I was shocked at the number of non-members who view my entries. You will be, too, if you check it out. This site just keeps giving and giving.

I guess I should mention...the GIANTS won the World Series. They did play very well and in fact deserve it. Congratulations, San Francisco!

My poor Gators are having a difficult time, but they did BEAT GEORGIA! Tim Tebow has been a terrible loss to us. We play Vanderbilt this Saturday and then Spurrier's South Carolina the following Saturday. I won't make any suggestion as to the outcome of that game. Spurrer is on a tear this year...a long time coming.
