Turtle
Slow feet, bone house
heavy on her back,
surely not able to do aerobics;
yet, wants to cross another road
inch by inch.

When a truck crushes the bone,
maybe she’ll grow wings and fly
to watch from above
her mangled shape,
a roadkill still in her shell.
