Before you can host a contest, you need to decide on what kind of contest it is that you want to hold.

Here is a list of questions you can ask yourself:

1) Will it be Poetry, Short Story, Story, Essay, Article, or Image?

2) What is the minimum and maximum length of the items that I will accept?

3) How long will I run this contest?

4) Do I want this to be a monthly contest?

5) Do I have the time to hold this contest?

6) Will I attach a theme to my contest?

7) What writing genre do I want for this contest?

8) Will I accept entries in a bitem or citem format, or will I accept entries posted directly to the forum?

9) What will be the rating for entries? (ie: [E] [ASR] [13+] [18+] [GC] [XGC] [NPL] )

10) How many entries can a member enter in the contest?

11) Will I set a limit to the number of entries I want to judge?

12) Do I need additional Judges to have this contest?

13) Do I have gift points that I want to use for this contest?

14) What gift point value will I give to the Winners?

15) Will I have the standard 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Winners?

16) Do I want to have a Grand Prize or Honourable Mentions?

17) Will I provide awardicons or merit badges for the Winners?
