My thoughts released; a mind set free |

It's been busy, and it's cutting into my WdC time, but that's how life is. It's likely going to be like this a lot with warmer weather on the way, but we do what we can, right? So what's been keeping me busy? The carpet in the dining room. It's old, cheap, stained, and about worn out. It also has a smell to it that's not very pleasant. We've talked about tearing it out and putting down laminate, and on Friday, we decided to do just that. My wife was off Friday through Sunday, was supposed to work today, then is off again tomorrow and Wednesday, so it seemed like a pretty good time to tackle the job. It took most of the weekend to get the old carpet out, prep the floor, and pull all the mop boards. Today, she called in and took the day off so we could start putting down the new flooring. It went pretty well, except that it's an old house and nothing is square. We also had a bit of a challenge with the hall that runs off the dining room, because it was off by about an inch from the rest of the floor. But we cut a few narrow strips to compensate, and it seems to be working. We are a little over three-quarters of the way done and should have it finished (at least as far as the flooring down) tomorrow. Then it's just a matter of putting the trim back on and getting some strips to put down where the new floor meets the carpet in my wife's studio and the spare room. Oh, and another strip where the new flooring meets the vinyl floor in the kitchen. Hopefully, we'll have it done tomorrow, but if not, we can wrap it up on Wednesday. |
