Ascendant Ethereal Afterlife
City streets and park lanes paved solid gold;
wonders abound of astonishing scale.
A garden of delights brought manifold,
in this eternal realm beyond the veil.

Heaven overflows with promise and joy,
and choirs of young angels frolicking free.
But all that's merely a lie, a decoy,
for the true path of your life's apogee

A cacophony of mockery flows,
as you start to inevitably sink,
into much deeper and darker new lows,
Hell dragging you down into its dark ink.

When everyone else begins their own rise,
Damnation is your consolation prize.

Line Count:
14

Form: English Sonnet

Prompt: The title and the poem are clearly arguing. Include the word "sink" or "bell." Roll two dice twice and that's the number of lines your poem must be (RESULT: 14).
