Magic on Paper
Reading is the magic key
To take you where you want to be.
- Alice in BibleLand
I am grateful for many things in my life, yet one stands clear:
Reading, key to knowledge, sealed in vaults of language.
Taught at an early age by my devoted mother,
Words took flight easily, universes unfolding on printed pages.
Safe behind walled bookshelves, I learned endlessly:
Cats, dogs, trees, birds, cars, planes, everything under the sun and beyond.
Human nature, sin, salvation, good, evil, truth, beauty,
All revealed to me between covers of books large and small.
Now, looking back, older, with real experience,
I understand how much of what I read was accurate.
I use my mind to share my perspectives,
Shaped by a lifetime of learning, sparked by a love of reading.
Words are my building blocks, tools, paintbrushes;
For knowing and valuing how to read, I'm forever grateful.
