November Winds
November Winds
The branches were playing in the wind today. However, only a few leaves had been dropped off. Some leave had started to change colors. But most of the leaves were the same colors as a couple of weeks ago. I am thinking that the recent rains had furnished the moisture that the trees needed to begin completion of the yearly cycle of life. Many of the ducks had gone from the pond I see. The geese are now flying away at night time by the light of the moon and some landmarks they remember from last year.
But the winds are cooler, almost cold when I go outside to take my morning walk. I have a coat on but warm up quickly. Not many people are outside. There is no school today since it is Saturday.
I look for wrappers with candy and without candy. Our dog must not eat either because paper is bad and chocolate will make him sick. Last night's Trick or Treaters were so happy to get candy and a cheery "Hello." Parents accompanied all of the groups. Everyone was bundled up to be warm.
But today, the first day of November, the wind is promising a cool, cheerful month. Will the next wind bring colder weather? Will more animals be gone? Will I need to put out more food for my ducks?
I look forward to the changes I think will come. But the thing I do enjoy the most is watching the winds play with the limbs on the trees and the leaves roll across the backyard I see from my window. November winds are special.
