Asking Why?

Do you agree or disagree?

I don’t really agree with asking that particular question but I do agree to taking the time to ask more when someone is stating a view dissimilar to mine, “that’s really interesting, tell me more.” People are often just repeating a point of view they’ve heard or has been drilled into them and haven’t really given it much thought.

My friend, a Buddhist, loves to challenge people when they say something like:”I don’t like…” whatever it might be, perhaps a place, a person, or an even a country. She won’t let them get away with just saying they don’t like something she’ll ask them, “that’s interesting you say that, can you tell me why that is ?’
It makes people think before speaking. We need to be able to defend our point of view.
