What Is My Dog's Name?
(PPC6 Prompt 7)

We were lovers in the days when Doyle Park
Was family, friends, long walks
A quiet stream; long before the gangs
The loafers and pervs and "drive-bys"
We were outlaws, but only for love
Stealing time from work to meet
Her dog, Her dog! o no! my new love
She has a dog!
We romped and twirled and
Ran the legs off the beast
She told me his name
Mark something but I heard
"I have never had such bad luck!"
My new love has a dog!
Then my luck changed forever
She cuddled close, her lips
brushing mine and whispered:
"You remember his name, don't you?"
My face turned to bury itself
In ebony falls of glorious hair
And nuzzled the word: "Markson?"
Like a proposal of marriage
She kissed me the promise of
It is forever and ever we be
And so it is my love and so it is.
