Self-Defining
Prompts day 8: Story to feature a horn (any definition)

“I can't play my horn for your band,” Joey wailed. “I'm too fat and ugly.”

“No one cares how you look, they just want to hear you play,” Max responded. “We need your talents. Our regular guy is sick – we won't have one for the big show.”

“Musicians gotta be handsome…”

“Geez, who told you that? You won't be lead singer. It'll be fine.”

Joey reluctantly agreed. He practiced every day.

Backstage, he was terrified. Onstage, he played his heart out, forgetting everything.

At the end, surrounded by applause and his bandmates’ gratitude, Joey didn't feel fat or ugly anymore.

Words: 100.
