Love's a Gift

That love's a gift I truly know.
I could not earn its weight.
Imperfect life down here below,
the mirror's never great.

I'll strive to be as wish I could
throughout each lasting breath,
and hope the memory thinks me good
through deeds and planted heath.

The truest love demands not bliss
throughout our living days,
but honored thoughts with often kiss,
and graceful, kind displays.

A life of tropes and click-bait tweets
may garner cyber-friends,
but when beyond this life we meet
what closeness then attends?

When the midnight hour bids harshest drive
around the porcelain bus.
By holding hair we help to thrive
when there it's only us.

Imperfect souls make perfect love.
How can this possibly be?
Self-sacrificing of hearts to move
committed now to we.

This love's a gift 'tween those, who stay
when other souls are gone.
I love you now, this very day,
and will when we see The Son.
